Winter Campout

In January, my Boy Scouts troop did a winter camp out.  It was very hard getting to the campsite because we had to walk through 3 foot of snow at 7 at night.  The fire took forever to get started because everything was wet.  We put an easy up canopy over the fire pit and finally started a fire.  I spent and hour and a half chopping firewood.  For dinner I ate hot dogs and a very wonderful tinfoil dinner I helped my Dad make and my friend Brennan made apple cinnamon cobblers for dessert.  The cobblers were way to cinnamony, but I ate it anyways.  Sleeping was wonderful, the best I had ever slept at at camp out because I was prepared.  I had an air mattress, a mummy rug and a -15* sleeping bag,  I was warm.  I was very happy my Dad got to go with me because he brought good food and shared the tent with me.  We did an ice rescue mission, where one scout is standing 20 feet away from you and you have to throw him a rope and save him off a pretend frozen lake.  We did a bobsled race for 1/2 a mile, it was hard, we had to pull our leader in the sled.  We had many snowball fights and a really good time.
